What is the difference
between the WorkKeys assessments and KeyTrain?
WorkKeys assessments are the high-stakes, proctored
exams that measure work-ready skills. KeyTrain is the learning program and curriculum
that teaches the skills that are defined by
the WorkKeys system.
Are WorkKeys products and
KeyTrain owned by the same company?
No. WorkKeys assessments are products of ACT, Inc. and KeyTrain is a product of Thinking Media
What is the National
Career Readiness Certificate and how is it
related to KeyTrain?
The National Career Readiness Certificate
(also called the NCRC) is also a product of ACT,
Inc. It is a three tiered (bronze, silver, gold)
certification that measures career readiness.
The NCRC is based on three WorkKeys assessments,
Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics,
and Locating Information. KeyTrain is the
learning system that helps to raise these
skills.
My state has its own
Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), how is this
related?
Before ACT created the National Career
Readiness Certificate, some states used the
same three WorkKeys assessments to define their own
state CRC – in most cases the state certificate
uses the same levels (bronze, silver, gold) as
the NCRC.
Does KeyTrain teach all
WorkKeys skills?
Yes. It includes more than 30,000 pages of
curriculum and covers all levels of all WorkKeys
skills.
Does KeyTrain actually
help to raise skills?
KeyTrain has more documented WorkKeys skill
gains and NCRC
skill gains than any other similar product. It
also has been shown to increase performance on
other standardized tests such as the GED, high
school graduation tests, COMPASS, and ASSET.
