4/7/2009 - KeyTrain Helps Apprenticeship Readiness Participants Make the Grade: 46 of 48 WorkKeys^® assessments at level 5 or above!

For the last three months, the Workforce Training Institute at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, MI held class for the Road Construction Apprenticeship Readiness program. To be considered for the program all candidates were given WorkKeys assessments and required to achieve the Bronze level. The program goal was for graduates to leave at the Gold level. After 30-plus hours of KeyTrain and many hours of classroom training, students were retested with WorkKeys assessments. Sixteen students graduated from the program. Of these, two achieved the Silver Certificate and fourteen achieved the Gold Certificate with one student scoring a perfect score (Reading for Information: 7, Applied Mathematics: 7, and Locating Information: 6).  Of the 48 assessments administered, 46 assessments were scored at a level 5 or higher; therefore, the two candidates at the Silver level are short of the Gold level by only one assessment.
